I have to be honest. I hated pitching. The thought of approaching someone to sell my services scared the hell out of me.
My business coach would say all the time "You have to pitch yourself!"
I have big goals for my business.
Grow to $30k monthly revenue
Increase my social followers
Secure a 6 figure corporate contract
Land more paid speaking opportunities
Yet, I was afraid to put myself out there and pitch my business. Now, I've already worked out the emotional issues that contributed to this mindset with my therapist. But, I'll share a few that stopped me from this important act.
Limiting beliefs- Every time I went to pitch that small voice in my head reminded me that I wasn't good enough.
Imposter syndrome- I call her "Little Me." Whenever I attempt to do something new, Little Me comes out to protect me. It's the brain's way of saying we're in danger. Low Self-Confidence- My expertise runs 10 years deep, yet I am a baby when it comes to entrepreneurship. As I grow in the business, my self-confidence does too. | ![]() |
So instead of pitching, I waited for referrals to fuel my business. Truthfully, my business did pretty well with referrals. I managed to generate revenue each month and I was comfortable.
That was the problem.
Staying in my comfort zone was not going to help me reach my bigger goals.
To surpass $10k monthly, I needed a marketing strategy to help me grow consistently. In a way that didn't only rely on referrals.

Here's what worked for me. I made a marketing plan template for service businesses. It solved a real problem, and people were eager to share their email to get it. Your lead magnet should address a specific pain point your ideal clients face.
Strategic Content Creation:
Focus on creating authority-building content that addresses your ideal clients' core problems. If you want to hit $30k months, show clients you can solve their biggest problems through your content. The format matters less than the value you provide.
Multi-Channel Presence
Today, my leads come from three places: LinkedIn, speaking gigs, and my website. They all work together, helping ideal clients discover my business.
The Critical Conversion System
What changed everything? A system that turns new leads into booked calls. This means creating clear pathways for prospects to take larger actions:
